Da Vinci Orange Artist Watercolor is the color of summertime peaches and beachside sunsets, Monarch butterflies and autumn campfires, and reminds one of the sweet tastes of peaches, pumpkins, and nectarines. Da Vinci Orange contains a red-shade (RS) version of PO73 and is excellent for creating contrast and balance in a painting, especially when used alongside cool or complementary colors like violets and blues. Semi-opaque in masstone, Da Vinci Orange has an easy-going nature and easily dilutes into smooth, semi-transparent washes.
In mixes, Da Vinci Orange’s soft opacity adds warmth and body to more transparent colors and can be a valuable naturalizer and neutralizer in a palette. Use it to create amazing violets and neutrals when mixed with nearly any blue, or mix Da Vinci Orange with earths or greens to obtain clear golds, warm browns, deep russets, and rich greens. Mixing with roses or reds will create warm, vibrant scarlets, and its red-based pigment will produce a range of rose tints when mixed with white which makes it wonderful for painting sun-blushed cheeks, rosy lips, and flower petals.
