Da Vinci Titan Buff Artist Watercolor is softly opaque with a slight granulation and neutral warmth. In masstone, Titan Buff can appear as a warm gray that reminds one of a late summer afternoon shadow. However, Titan Buff smootly dilutes into various shades of grayed ivory that are perfect for painting sandy seashores and desert dunes, autumn mushrooms and hay fields, pampas grass plumes and lamb’s wool.
Handcrafted with a special version of Pigment White 6 (PW6) known as Buff Rutile Titanium Dioxide, Titan Buff’s natural coloration comes from a small percentage of iron oxide that’s purposely left behind in the manufacturing process. Because Titan Buff contains a naturally-derived pigment, artists may notice a range of exciting and varying colorations depending upon one's lighting, dilution, and paper. We combine this high-quality pigment with nothing less than the finest gum arabic which allows Titan Buff’s natural characteristics to shine.
While absolutely beautiful on its own, Titan Buff is excellent in mixes, able to soften, warm, and opacify nearly every other color in a palette. Titan Buff will also add a touch of granulation to other colors, and many artists prefer Titan Buff to pure white in a palette, not only for its solo coloration and characteristics but also its ability to create more natural hues when combined with other palette colors.
