Da Vinci Chromium Oxide Green artist oil is a mid-range, single-pigment green that reminds one of soft moss and ferns, asparagus and avocados, or cacti and weeping willows. This unique green is highly opaque in masstone, but will easily and uniformly dilute in glazes and is often used in underpainting portraits. Chromium Oxide Green oil paint can also be used to mute, opacify, and tone other palette colors.
A wonderful color in its own right due to its highly stable, durable, and dependable nature, Chromium Oxide Green is commonly used in camouflage and currency, but it’s also a centuries long choice for an all-purpose, single-pigment green by artists.
