Da Vinci Perylene Maroon artist watercolor is a deep, lipstick red with cool undertones that shift and become visibly warmer as the color dries. Perylene Maroon’s earthy top notes along with its tranquil undertones make this color extremely useful when painting landscapes and portraits, but due to its semi-transparent nature, Perylene Maroon is also frequently used by floral painters when a softer, more muted red is desired.
Like all perylene pigments, Perylene Maroon is active when wet and can be used to create special effects like blossoms, cauliflowers, and more. Although highly staining, Perylene Maroon is not overpowering in mixes and will easily mix rustic oranges, jet blacks, evocative violets, and more.
